Optical Integration
This research thrust focuses on the design and fabrication of optoelectronic chips (including silicon photonics), opto-electronic fusion and heterogeneous integration, as well as the driving and control of optoelectronic chips. It also encompasses the packaging, testing, and failure analysis of these devices. The research explores applications of photonic integrated chips in various fields, such as optical interconnects for data/AI computing centers, high-speed and large-capacity optical communications, intelligent sensing (including on-chip LiDAR), and broadband microwave photonic signal processing.
Optical Communication
This research area primarily investigates wired and wireless optical time-frequency transfer and measurement techniques, integrated devices and chips, as well as systems and networks. The research extends to their applications in the national time-frequency system, navigation and positioning, 5G/6G wireless communications, fundamental research, distributed collaboration, and spatiotemporal intelligence.
